Custom Farm & Rural Sheds

Our custom-designed farm and rural sheds have maximum strength and minimal deflection, surpassing Australian Standards. Compare our engineering to others to see the necessary requirements. Check all your quotes against the Smart Buyer’s Guide on the button below. Maximise your space to get the height and span you desire. You can use Zincalume or all Colorbond colours, add translucent roof sheets, PA Doors, Windows, Whirlybirds or Insulation. Easily add a mezzanine and/or have the roof strong enough for solar panels. We can suggest over 43 options and additions for your custom shed!

Custom Farm and Rural Sheds Built to withstand the harsh Australian Weather.

Professional Choice custom farm sheds are designed to be used for all-purpose storage of machinery, hay, livestock for your rural lifestyle. In the harsh Australian environment, you must have the best quality build to keep your equipment and livestock safe and secure while you work the land.

For years, most Aussie shed businesses have been on a race to the bottom trying to offer cheaper and cheaper sheds. The process has compromised quality and strength. Certifiers have been able to ‘hide’ behind their complex calculations, too difficult for most to understand. Now, it’s easy for anyone to check for true Australian Standards with the Shed Health Test – no more hiding!

Make sure you buy the best – or at the very least, a shed that is Australian Standards compliant.

Solar Panel Ready Farm & Rural Sheds

Professional Choice has experience in developing solar-ready farm & rural sheds and carports. A solar-ready roof can support an additional 20kg per square meter.

You should check the span and strength of the tophats for roof purlins or wall girts at the very least. They span between portals and other structural framing elements, (particularly in applications where there is a higher wind loading or where heavy-duty sheeting is to be installed).

Australian Standards permit a deflection, (bend or sag), of only 10mm over a 3-metre span. Most sheds we know of, are NOT deflection compliant. Try the Top Hat Span Test to ensure your quote is compliant and therefore covered by your insurance!

Frequently Asked Questions

Certified G450-G500 High Tensile Rafters, Fascias & Purlins.

Domestically produced high tensile steel is known for its superior strength and durability, making it a reliable choice for construction projects. Mild steel is inferior. Mild steel is imported from China, India, or South Korea. Most shed manufacturers in Australia use imported steel. The high tensile steel, produced domestically, is known for its superior strength and durability, making it a reliable choice for construction.

In contrast, the imported mild steel is more affordable but lacks the same strength and resilience, which can impact the longevity and safety of the shed it is used to build. Mild steel does not have the strength and is lighter than quality Australian steel. Australian high tensile steel may look similar to an imported equivalent but the Australian high tensile steel could be more than twice as strong as the cheaper mild steel import.

Check the BMT of your sheets.

Colorbond steel is a minimum of 0.42BMT (Base Metal Thickness) Professional Choice will usually use Colorbond of 0.48BMT. It is very common for cheap shed builder to use imported sheeting that is less than 30BMT. A pair of scissors can easily cut this because it is so thin..

Also important to note:– The thickness of steel to which Colorbond sheeting must be attached is a straightforward point that is easy to check. Most sheds use TRIMDEK or CUSTOM ORB roofing sheets, or they use a Chinese import. These sheets are often screwed onto purlins with a base metal thickness (BMT) of 0.75mm or less. Most sheds are TRIMDEK or CUSTOM ORB or a Chinese import which is screwed to 0.75mm or less BMT (Base Metal Thickness) purlin!

The manufacturer requires that the sheeting be attached to a minimum thickness of 1mm BMT! Unless the framing is very close (400mm-450mm, which is unlikely on most structurers), they do not meet manufacturer specification. They are therefore not meeting NCC compliance – no matter what the engineering certification says.

A roof should never sag or bend.

No one wants a sag in their roof. The roof deflection indicates the “sag.”. High tensile Australian steel is a lot less ‘bendable’ than mild steel imports. It’s easy to check the structure you are thinking of purchasing on this independent website www.shedhealthtest.com.au. These are just some points as to why Professional Choice® is your guarantee that your new installation will meet all manufacturing and Australian standards.

The unique design and engineering software used, ensures we’re able to customise your carport or shed to the millimetre. There is absolutely no waste yet our sheds are up to 40% more in mass. If a comparable size shed is less mass than Professional Choice, you should know there is a problem!

Engineers design each project specifically for your site to ensure its ability to withstand the unique conditions. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that the winds will not damage them.

43+ Choices.

You have over 43 choices and accessories with Professional Choice Sheds®. These range from the obvious – dimensions and colour – to solar-ready roofs and mezzanines. Have a look at your shed guide by clicking here.

It’s amazing how many photos and videos we see of damaged sheds after violent storms. This should NEVER happen unless the shed is very old and decaying. It happens because they should never have been certified to Australian Standards.

Fire, Flood and Wind are the three weather conditions all Australians must consider. We can absolutely guarantee Professional Choice against any wind conditions. In most cases, it is highly likely your Professional Choice structure will withstand the ravages of flood. Finding steel that will not distort and bend in the heat of an Australian bush fire is still beyond even Professional Choice®.
